Rent A Pre-Warped Loom

THREE DAYS OF RUG WEAVING IMMERSION

With Jason Collingwood

The Chicago Weaving School once again welcomes master rug weaver and veteran instructor Jason Collingwood to share his decades of experience and extensive knowledge.

Collingwood’s workshops always open our eyes to a world of mind-blowing pattern and design techniques, while addressing the basic requirements to weaving a strong weft-faced rug.

This year’s workshop will cover block-weaves specifically 3-end block weaves and shaft-switching. (Don’t worry if that means nothing to you. After you take the workshop you’ll be able to say, “Ahhhh, yes, good ole’ three-end block weaves and shaft-switching…)

WORKSHOP ENROLLMENT

Requirements

Participants will bring their own pre-warped looms to the workshop.

Warped looms are available for the three-day rental at $70. (Rental looms are limited and must be reserved.)

A supply list and warping instructions will be provided upon registration, as well as pre-workshop mini-lessons to get you in the mood! Wool rug weft will also be available for purchase at the workshop as a materials fee.

Space is limited, and this workshop fills quickly, so sign up soon if you are excited about this opportunity. Reservation is confirmed with payment in full.

Refunds will only be given if there is a waiting list and someone else takes your place, or if the class does not take place.

JASON WILL LECTURE AND DEMONSTRATE

Then Help You Create

Jason will lecture and demonstrate though-out this three-day workshop, and spend the rest of the time walking from student-to-student to help with weaving.

Jason knows this subject matter backwards and forwards, and is a very present and aware teacher who is always patient and available to students.

When Jason visits The Chicago Weaving School, we strive to provide extra support. Natalie Boyett and Jen Boldt are here to help students with any loom troubles or issues that may arise.

PARKING, MEALS AND

Other Important Logistics

Parking

The Chicago Weaving School is located in the city, but as city streets go, parking isn’t bad. In addition to close metered and free street parking directly next to the school, there is always plenty of free, open parking two blocks away.

Meals

We’ll provide a breakfast, lunch, and snack buffet, leaving you free to focus on your weaving.

Post Session Yoga Stretches

The Saturday and Sunday classes will end with light standing (or sitting) yoga stretches and breathing, led by a wonderful instructor.

This is a great way to loosen the body after a day of weaving and let our swirling minds relax and absorb all the new knowledge we’re be taking in.
